The school Daughter attends had a circus come to town for a couple of performances. Since Husband has Firefighter Training tonight, we decided to go the the first performance. It was crowded as always. We arrived really early, knowing we had to if we wanted to get good seats. We found seats and got comfortable. A group of children arrived with their grandparents, and wanted to sit up higher in the bleachers. I slid over so that they could all get up there. The grandmother ended up sitting on the bench next to me. That would not have been a problem, except that my Family was on the OTHER SIDE of her. I looked at her, then past her to my Husband. She looked at me like she didn't realize there was a problem. I asked her if she minded switching spots so that I could SIT NEXT TO my Family?!! How Rude!!! she switched places with me and I snuggled up next to Husband while Daughter sat next to her Friends.
We should have just moved up to the top area, because I spent most of the performance with a small child kicking me. The child later ended up with a bloody nose after crying for 15 minutes. The whole group got up a bunch of times and had to crawl past me to get to the floor, making sure I missed what were probably some very fun parts of the performance.
Just before intermission, the surprise guest showed up for the circus. It was Batman on a motorcycle. They had some smoke coming out before Batman rode his motorcycle out.. too much smoke I guess. The next thing we knew, the fire alarms were going off all throughout the school. The RingMaster assured us all was fine, but at PTA Member insisted we all leave the gymnasium. We all ended up outside in the cold, waiting for the Fire Department to come and shut off the system.
It was all good for a laugh, and RingMaster made his apologizes. The rest of the show continued without incident.
All in all it was an enjoyable afternoon, if you ignore the fact that we had to stand outside for 5 minutes. As we walked out to the van when it was over, Daughter said what we were all thinking.. She said "I bet they don't use that much smoke at the next show!"
